Steve has been leading cross country and track programs since 1997. Under his leadership, the Waukee MS Cross Country teams won multiple state championships and runner-up positions. Coach Nepp was also part of the coaching staff which secured back-to-back state championships for the Waukee High School Track program in 2014 and 2015. 

In addition to his school coaching experience, Coach Nepp has provided private training in high jump, long jump, and sprint training. He has coached three Drake Relays Champions as well as three State Champions in High Jump. His athletes have earned two State Titles in Long Jump, three Runner-up finishes in High Jump, along with numerous other state qualifiers and state medal finishers.

In 2014, Coach Nepp was named the Middle School Coach of the Year by the Iowa Track Coaches Association.
